During a one-week mission trip to the Dominican Republic in 2002, Elizabeth felt God calling her to work in education to poor Dominicans.  When her husband, Glenn, picked her up at the airport, she asked, “So, how’d you like to move to the Dominican Republic?”  He was open to the possibility, but desired a job in which he could teach in English.  This brought Glenn and Elizabeth to the Dominican city of Jarabacoa in 2003, at which time they both worked for English-speaking ministries.

Elizabeth began working for Kids Alive International – Dominican Republic in 2004, as this fit better with her desire to help poor Dominicans.  She currently serves as the school librarian at Centro Educativo Vida, KAIDR’s PK4 - 8th grade school in Jarabacoa.  She is grateful for the support of family, friends, and churches that enables her to do this work.  In particular, she thanks her home church, Vision of Hope United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg, VA; the church of her youth, Wallingford Presbyterian Church in Wallingford, PA; and her parents’ church, First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, FL.

Elizabeth grew up in the Philadelphia, PA area.  She completed degrees in history and education at the George Washington University in Washington, DC, and George Mason University in VA, as well as teacher licensure coursework at James Madison University in VA.  She has worked with children and youth in a variety of positions.  Elizabeth and Glenn met as undergraduates at GWU and spent their married life in VA until moving to the Dominican Republic, where they plan to stay indefinitely.
