Lebanon: Home of Serenity for Girls
LEBANON HOME

LOCATION

The Home of Serenity for Girls is located in the Shouf Mountains 35 km from Beirut.

BACKGROUND

In 1948 the ‘Dar El Awlad’ Boys Home was founded in Beirut, Lebanon. Since that time the question “what about the girls?” was often raised by supporters. Finally, on October 6, 1996, the Home of Serenity for Girls was opened. Some of the girls are sisters of boys in Dar El Awlad.

The country of Lebanon has been devastated by many years of war. It is now recovering, but many children were left fatherless. Because of the extensive poverty, many families are unable to care for their children. Many families are dysfunctional and the children have suffered. It is from these backgrounds that the girls at the Home of Serenity come.

FACILITIES

The buildings are on a beautiful campus in the mountains. There are bedrooms, meeting rooms and a large dining room.

PROGRAMS

The girls in the Home range from four years old up through high school age. They attend a nearby local school. All of their needs are met—housing, food, clothing, and medical care. Most importantly, they are introduced to Jesus and discipled in day-to-day Christian living.

FUTURE

As space permits, more girls will be enrolled in the Home. We would also love to be able to extend our care to girls after high school age and develop a follow -up program for the ones who have left the Home in the past few years.
