Ministry Locations Kids Alive Lebanon’s Children’s Home – called ‘Dar El Awlad’ in Arabic - is our oldest ministry, having joined the Kids Alive International family in 1948. The home cares for 40 boys from Christian, Muslim, and Druze backgrounds. All of our staff are practicing Christians, however, and our main goal is to teach the children the Christian faith and disciple those who make commitments. Since relocating the home from Beirut to the town of Mansourieh in 1954, the following programs have been added:
A Kids Alive affiliate ministry, the Home of Serenity for Girls, located in the Chouf Mountains outside the city of Beirut, was opened in 1996. Some of the girls are sisters to the boys living at Dar El Awlad. The Home of Serenity is directed by nationals, Alain and Roula Farhat. Kids Alive Lebanon is currently served by Field Directors, Matt and Mel Parker. Long-term missionaries who are currently supporting the ministry are: Mat and Suzanne Gregory, Brent Hamoud, and Alistair Dickey. Vacancies exist for other missionaries to join the team. Service Teams are also encouraged to come and provide practical work or assist in organizing programs for the children.
