Gene and Shelly Anderson, formerly of Lowell and Momence in Indiana, are the Directors of the Anderson Graduate Ministry in Taiwan. Their home and sending church is Community Bible Church in Cedar Lake, Indiana. Married since 1991, they have three children: William (8), Whittaker (5) and Genevieve (3).

Gene is a graduate of DeVry Institute of Technology in Lombard, Illinois with a B.S., in Electronics Engineering Technology, and an Advanced Studies Program Certificate from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Subsequent employment was with Westinghouse Instrument Service Company in Lansing, Illinois. Shelly worked as a home healthcare nurse with various agencies including Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Illinois.

Joining Kids Alive® International in 1989, they ministered at the Onesiphorus Children’s Home in Taiwan. Originally, the Home of Onesiphorus, opened to care for children afflicted with polio as a result of the epidemic in 1971. Today, the Onesiphorus Children’s Home cares for children from dysfunctional backgrounds whose relatives could not take care of them.

In 2001, Gene and Shelly were encouraged to start a new outreach, the Anderson Graduate Ministry. Very much involved with the new moms, Shelly says, “I enjoy life's various stages as they unfold and enjoy being alongside the graduates as they experience these stages of life. I try to encourage them, listen to them, and point them to our Lord as the Holy Spirit leads. My hope is that they will become faithful Christians and be a light to those around them... leading others to Christ.”

In addition to a growing family, Gene continues to teach computer classes, specifically how to type in Chinese, tutors math, and preaches at the Sunday worship service monthly. He feels that “…working in this ministry is important because it is a ministry in which I am allowed to use my unique gifts and abilities to build life-long relationships with individuals who come to us initially as children-at-risk and who can ideally be nurtured to a position of mature discipleship and social responsibility.”
