Courtney is a 2003 graduate from George Fox University in Portland, OR,
and holds her degree in Social Work. Courtney has served with Kids
Alive in Guatemala for 3 months in 2003, 6 months in 2004-2005, and has
now returned to serve for a long term commit ment.Courtney is working with the older girls at the home to teach them the skills to transition to independence outside of the Kids Alive home. Her background and knowledge in social work is helping her as she develops this transition program. She works alongside the other staff on and with the children's individual cases, setting up action steps and analyzing what is the best form of care and healing for each one. "The philosophy of Kids Alive International is one I can truly stand up for," she says. "The mindset of Kids Alive International is truly authentic in their care for the children. Working together with local people of each country helps foster a healthy perspective of a good and faithful citizen for the children of these countries.. The partnership the ministry has with sponsors in the states also builds a bridge between those who desire to give, and the cultures that are in need. With such a redemptive perspective on life, it's a given that the care and healing offered to the children of Kids Alive goes far beyond physical. Having had the opportunity of working with Kids Alive in the past, and really seeing their model in action with children's lives, only makes me want to continue to be part of this organization, in some form for many years to come." |
