Update on Kids Alive Kenya

Kids Alive International - Christian Care for Children at Risk: Kenya UpdateFollowing late December elections, violence in Kenya sprung up among tribal and political lines. To date, there is no resolution to the struggle over the Kenyan presidency.

Because of such news, several supporters have inquired about the status of the Kids Alive Kenya programs. Kids Alive staff members are closely monitoring the situation and report that all programs, staff members, and, most importantly, all children are safe at this time.

UPDATE: A coalition government was formed on February 28, 2008. The peace deal was brokered by Hon. Koffi Annan, who was in the country in early April for the swearing in of the grand coalition cabinet. This coalition gives 50-50 power to the current government and the opposition party, which resolves the struggle over the Presidency. There is more stability in the country now, as seen in the strengthening of the Kenya shilling against the major currencies, a sign of political and economic stability.
