Taiwan joined
the Kids Alive® International family in 1971! The Onesiphorus
Children’s Home was opened in 1971 to care for children suffering
from polio. As the vaccine became more prevalent, the need of having
a home to care for polio victims became obsolete. As of 1979, the Onesiphorus
Children’s Home focused on providing care for children from dysfunctional
backgrounds, disabled children with other diseases and children who had
been in accidents. In the year 2000, the last of the polio handicapped
children graduated from high school.
The Anderson
Graduate Ministry exists as a result of the need to support the alumni of the
Onesiphorus
Children’s Home in the Taitung area. This ministry primarily
operates out of the Anderson’s home and
is confined to the Taitung area due to time and financial constraints.
Taiwan is currently served by Field Directors, Gene and Shelly
Anderson and nationals Daniel and Debbie Lu. .
