LOCATION HISTORY The Kids Alive Zambia project began in 1999 with a visit to Zambia by members of the Kids Alive Canada Board of Directors. Kids Alive International was aware of the devastating impact of the AIDS crisis on the children of the country. As a result, a Zambian board of directors was formed in 2000, and in 2001 the Chikondi Children's Home was opened. There are currently thirteen orphans and children at risk who reside at the Chikondi One home, and Jim and Ivy Kongwa serve as the house parents.FACILITIES The Chikondi One home is currently in a rented facility and is hoping to move to a new donated land in the same vicinity early in 2009.
