Kids Alive International: Zambian children

LOCATION

The Jerusalem Kids Alive Centre is located near the town of Mongu, in a small village called Sefula.

HISTORY

The Jerusalem Kids Alive Centre developed from a local church congregation. The church pastor was aware of the orphans and other at-risk children in his church and desired to help them. A blind man, with a vision for his church, he approached Kids Alive and asked us to start a program for the orphans there.

FACILITIES

The Center consists of one thatched-roof classroom for the kids to attend school.

PROGRAM

The director of the Jerusalem Kids Alive Centre is Kenneth Kaulembi, who is also the local pastor of the church. The school consists of classes for children in grades 1-5. Children who attend receive a formal, government education. In addition, children receive a noon meal, five days per week. Scripture instruction, singing, and prayer are an important part of the daily program.

FUTURE

The program will expand to include more classes and hopefully a widow's program.
