Zambia: Lilato One Home and Preschool

ZAMBIA HOME
LOCATION
The Lilato One Children’s Home & Preschool (Lilato means Love) is located in the small town of Mongu, Zambia. Zambia is a land-locked country in southern Africa, just south of Congo and north of Zimbabwe.
HISTORY
The Kids Alive Zambia project began in 1999 with a visit to Zambia by members of the Kids Alive Canada Board who were aware of the devastating impact of the AIDS crisis on the children of the country. A Zambian Board of Directors was formed in 2000 and in 2002 the Lilato Children’s Home was opened.
FACILITIES
The Lilato One Children’s Home a purchased facility owned by Kids Alive Zambia. Lubinda and Sibesio Sikufele serve as the house parents for this facility.
PROGRAM
There are currently 11 children in this home— 9 in preschool and 2 who are starting grade one. Total care in a loving atmosphere for these children includes a safe place to sleep, good nutrional meals, medical attention, and Christian discipleship.
